Cold Street

In keeping with our mission to support and inspire creativity, we ask the artists we collaborate with to offer insight into their work, a look behind the scenes, and the opportunity for our readers to learn more about the process. For our latest fashion feature, photographer Angelo Lamparelli answers our questions.

What was the inspiration behind this shoot?

The shoot was inspired by everyday routines and by personal life episodes experienced by the stylist, Savina Di Donna, who worked with me on the project. I chose to focus on her daily routine because I find her way of approaching life very cinematic, almost like a character from a film. We wanted to translate intimate and familiar moments into visuals, creating a story that feels authentic, spontaneous, and emotionally connected to real life.

How do you typically find inspiration for your work?
It’s almost as if I recreate micro frames that I imagine in my mind, and many times they are not made only of images but also of words, sounds, smells, or specific lights and atmospheres. But I’m deeply inspired by authentic personalities and by the emotional atmosphere that can emerge from real-life situations. I’m also very inspired by small gestures and expressions that people naturally have, because to me they often suggest much wider stories and emotions beneath the surface.

What are some themes that you are frequently drawn to in your work?
For me, the concept of truth is very important. In every project, I try to include an element that people can relate to or feel emotionally connected with. I like creating images and stories that feel honest and authentic, where viewers can recognize a part of themselves.

Do you have any surprising essentials on set?
I don’t really have typical on-set essentials. Instead, I focus on communicating the vision to the talents I work with through stories, texts, and reference images, so they can fully understand what I want to express. My approach is quite directorial: I try to guide the interpretation of the person I’m working with rather than simply directing actions.
Beyond that, I would say my main “essential” is actually to be as essential as possible. I like working with minimal equipment and keeping things very stripped back.

What is something you wish you had known when you were starting your career?
That this work wouldn’t only be the realization of a need and a dream but that at times it could also touch my life in deep and sometimes unexpected ways.
