Marni Marine Brings Mediterranean Fun to Shelter Island
Italy may have just reopened its border to vaccinated Americans, but those who are not yet ready to make the transatlantic trip can find a taste of Mediterranean flair stateside on Shelter Island, where the Sunset Beach Hotel is playing host to a colorful takeover by Marni through Labor Day weekend. Every inch of the property has been reimagined by the Italian house, from the walls repainted in glowing oranges and yellows to the sofas reupholstered in archival floral prints and even the branded pink sun umbrellas that have sprouted along the sandy shoreline, to offer guests an immersive experience that feels much more Amalfi Coast than Long Island. The hotel shop, of course, also now plays host to a selection of clothing and accessories from the Spring 2021 women’s and men’s collections, while a number of charming and vibrant rattan chaises longues, stools, and other furniture, many of them part of the Marni Markets line, have been scattered throughout the hotel’s public spaces. After a year when most of us stayed close to home, Marni is now offering us the chance to escape this summer by bringing a hint of carefree Mediterranean attitude to our shores.
Marni Marine is open through September 6 at the Sunset Beach Hotel, 35 Shore Road, Shelter Island Heights, New York.
