In keeping with our mission to support and inspire creativity, we ask the artists we collaborate with to offer insight into their work, a look behind the scenes, and the opportunity for our readers to learn more about the process. For our latest fashion feature, photographer Jonathan Arundel shares his artist’s statement.

The story is a dialogue between two people in a pre-digital age—a time when communication traveled at the speed of longing. Messages were not instantaneous but anticipated. Silence was not absence, but presence. Time stretched between exchanges, allowing emotion to steep, to deepen, to transform.
The story explores slowness as a condition: the ache of waiting, the poetry of boredom, the quiet weight of the mundane. It embraces analog rhythms—the back-and-forth of letters, the tactile intimacy of paper, the pauses that technology once required and, in doing so, protected. Constraint becomes a vessel for tenderness.
